Sometimes it takes a
long time to get
where I belonged where
I know I belong
simply because my heart
has told me so
For so many years
I had done things
because of others wanting
to do things have
things but now this
this today and this
morning and this day
and all of the
days after this one
and into the future
it’s all for me
Not the selfish me
The me that belongs

Place
Everyone needs a place
A place to belong
A place to stay
A place that’s theirs
theirs to retreat to
to remain in to
adore of to retrieve
from a place that
is you when you’re
not there a place
to make love and
meet friends and that
place can always be
either there or whom
ThisDenverMorn
Sitting in the cafe
staring out the window
coffee steaming beside me
I see Denver morning
after a night snowfall
The grass is sprinkled
with powdered bakers sugar
looking like dusty tables
And the railroad signs
wear little white derbies
looking all gentlemen like
There’s this one trees
trunk cast in plaster
While tops of cars
wear opaque shower caps
So this is Denver
Lovely
I am certainly loved
by four men younger
than me three friends
and one lover and
one my own age
Love comes in many
forms in any age
Most of us can
give love but few
can or will accept
Stinginess moves both ways
I suggest that you
accept as freely as
you give it’s lovely
ThereThenHere
Here’s the funny thing
about life when you’re
in the middle of
something you wonder where
it will lead certain
that where you are
isn’t the place that
you’re supposed to be
But when you reach
the other side that
very specific place you
were hoping to get
look back for only
then will you see
that those places where
you were certain that
you didn’t belong were
precisely the places that
brought you finally here
