David

It’s laughter
that brings
us together
like magnets
chocolate
eyes set in pecan
lids they smile
while we laugh
small like a
whippet
lithe like a
greyhound
his hairy legs
are wound
to spring
into action
atop
the comforter

Castles

The day
started with spots
of color
walking sidewalks
to the beach
surfers with
pretty white
boards
paddle against
the waves
riding them
like a seesaw
they bob and
bounce like buoys
or corks
the day
was a beach
where we played
in sand and built
castles

They

They stand
in front of me

at arm’s length
like candies
behind glass

out of reach
like the balloon
that floats
freely

so close
like a smile
or a nod or
a wink

just beyond
my grasp I

reach out
to them
to taste to touch

Nick

I spoke
to past
lovers
today
dust settled
we talked
like old
friends
hatred anger
disappointments
evaporated
cleared like skies
after the storm
I’d like to think
that we can
at last
be children
again

Zeus

His world
is seen through
a lens
which he clicks
and everything
is captured
like convicts
caught like salmon
stolen like treasures
he ensnares
the world
in his camera
showing images
to us
that we’d otherwise
never see
