GiveMeWrinkles

I wonder why
Two different pairs
Of eyes either
Adore or avoid
I have been
Found to be
Handsome by most
But here in
Denver I’m overlooked
And overpicked over
And over again
What they fail
To understand is
With my wrinkles
Also comes a
Roadmap of adventure
Of advice and
Admiration not for
Me but for
All those others
Whom I have
Take the young
With their dreams
And their futures
Give me wrinkles
For it’s wrinkles
That tells me
Something has been
Already worn has
Already served purpose
And master and
Has survived to
Tell its story
For stories are
What dreams have
Been made of

Cuddle

It is when
Two or more
Things forget what
They are separately
And decide together
To be neither
But just one

Simple

The difference between
Young and old
Is very simple
Whereas young dream
The old remember
And what happens
There in between
Never really matters
For that is
Borne from nothing
More than chance

Wicked

Oh this is wicked
These yarns we spin
These stories we tell
Ourselves we tell to
Too these promises we
Make based on dreams
But dreams like fairytales
Are but only lullabies
Meant to soothe and
Put to rest reality

Carrot

I am in fact
But a mule hitched
To the front of
Something behind me prompted
By whatever carrot floats
In front always seen
But never ever gotten
Such a life being
But a mule used
For one thing and
Promised another and I
Suppose that when my
Strength is gone I
Will be unhitched and
Shot from behind having
Never got the carrot
