I’m ready to meet
Someone new to hear
The hello and see
The smile to watch
As his eyes warm
And flicker and begin
To think who is
This and what if
Anything and maybe just
Maybe some day more
I’m ready to meet
Someone new to hear
The hello and see
The smile to watch
As his eyes warm
And flicker and begin
To think who is
This and what if
Anything and maybe just
Maybe some day more
When I’m told that
I can’t I can
When I’m told that
I shouldn’t I shall
When I’m told that
I won’t I will
I have that fire
That burns in my
Soul I know that
What I say can
Shall and will be
Sometimes soon sometimes later
But it eventually becomes
I’m not one whose
Wishes don’t come true
With that comes responsibility
As the genie once
Said to the prince
Adventures come big and
Small it’s not the
Destination but the impact
On the heart mine
Was to Target in
My wheelchair and let
Me say that the
Freedom that I felt
Was akin to hopping
Aboard my Schwinn Varsity
10-speed and peddling into
The stratosphere or around
The corner or whichever
Happened to come first
And so it’s Christmas
I love this holiday
Even at my age
There’s something that happens
Around this time hope
Seems like it’s everywhere
I think that’s what
Christmas means to me
More than anything else
So I hope for
You wherever you are
When you read this
That whatever you wish
For will come true
Merry Christmas my friends
I came one place
And left behind another
One that was warm
To one that’s cold
But the funny thing
Is that here in
The cold and snow
I feel more warm
Than I ever did
When I was warmer
It’s what is inside
That counts not out
For smiles often are
Icy without the hugs
And well wishes cold
Without the caring felt
So for all those
Bandying about words of
Good cheer without meaning
Keep them for bells
Without sounds of ringing
Are just like anchors
Weighing everything else down
