Happiness

Happiness can never

Be given and

It can never

Be taken happiness

Can only ever

Be found but

Not out there

With someone or

At some place

Or during some

Time or another

Happiness can be

Shared with others

But it’s never

Theirs to keep

Until that is

They find theirs

Inside of themselves

FineDining (for Java)

Okay we shared

Something maybe lots

Of some things

We dined upon

The table that

We are tasted

The forbidden fruits

And they were

Succulent and delicious

And deeply satisfying

And when finished

We pushed away

And went back

To our lives

And whatever we

Do call it

There’s one thing

We can’t deny

We’d dine there

Again because it

Was so good

LabelingThings (to Java in apology)

Why must we

Always label things

It is said

So that we

Create our world

A child sees

Points and says

Dada and mama

And even now

We enjoy someone

And still point

And still say

Boyfriend or lover

Partner or husband

But did God

Upon seeing creation

Point and say

Looky there galaxies

And the stars

And everything else

Or did He

Sit back saying

Wow isn’t that

Just simply marvelous

Waiter (to Jay)

And so I

Showed you things

Let you feel

Some touch some

I explained things

Answered your questions

And you grew

You began thinking

Anticipating and handling

You began wanting

Instead of needing

You learned choice

Instead of accept

It’s not me

It’s only ever

Been about you

I’m the waiter

Serving you your

World one course

At a time

OneMid-MarchWeekend (for Jay)

And it happened

Now it’s over

Existing in memory

Interesting it is

That while memory

Exists in feelings

It does not

Exist in activities

I do remember

That we did

This and that

But the sensations

That I felt

Have completely disappeared

So rather than

Remembering all those

I will remember

You and I

During that one

Mid March weekend
