Hope came in 
the form of
embarrassing the former 
and highlighting the future 
old tired and 
angry we saw
how heavy a
life of lies 
is and that 
broken promises can 
dress a man 
like a mirage 
but when the 
rains of tomorrow 
pelt the dessert 
even it despite 
its efforts to 
deflect will absorb 
and ultimately deflate 
becoming just another 
piece of land 
where things grow 

I never thought 
of the Calvary 
having long ago 
lost my horn
so how to 
loudly herald charge
hunker in this 
my very bunker 
I await enemies 
counting minutes then 
hours finally days 
slowly understanding that 
neither friend nor
foe will come 
and that I
am either one 

Attention is the food
of the vain upon 
which they gorge themselves 
rather be invisible to 
most men for there 
in your most absent 
will you find just 
enough to feed yourself 

When souls are
connected prior 
to being born 
they never disappear
from one another 
they’re simply not 
there to see
feel the line 
that connects the 
two for sight 
belongs to the 
earth and not 
to the heavens 

If there’s anything 
that is consistent 
then it’s change
even if one 
does nothing at
all than stay 
the same change
will step in
like a suitor
asking to dance 
change does this 
and suddenly there
you are staring 
into the eyes 
of something new
