Circus

Cupping hands over
ears a child
I did this
and now too
to not hear
the gnashing teeth
and pitiful wailing
of life’s misery
then a tap
and a smile
from some stranger
wondering if I’m
I say yes
off we go
to the circus
down the street
away from home

Shower

Fresh and clean
like a pot
cup or pan
free from debris
sweat and passion
caused by dreams
and yesterday’s dread
now at ease
coffee in hand
words on mind
this day is
that has become

Choose

To suffer is
to refuse change
misery is the
choice to accept
that which doesn’t
express one’s desire
all the while
knowing it doesn’t
to live one’s
life this way
is called damnation
hell on earth

After

Empty I
sitting here
once full
drawn to
and by
drained from
and of
leaving me
this way

Rain

Everything is
a mirror
this night
shiny and
wet reflecting
except shadows
that run
from door
to car
or that
walk around
avoiding and
dodging funny
how people
simply disappear
in rain
