did doesn’t work anymore

what do you try 
Have I finally finally 
found the end of 
the rope having followed 
it all these years 
no rope is a 
rainbow at the end 
of which one finds
gold Oh no the 
end of the rope 
is far less promising 
So what does one 
do when doing what 
one knows doesn’t work 
You let go of 
the rope which while 
scary is better than 
being hung by it
