My high school 
was a family 
born of families 
child after child 
brother after sister 
we all knew 
each other’s parents 
it wasn’t knowing 
or even pride
due to size
being the smallest 
school in town 
it was respect
as we knew 
and still know 
we are different 
to each other 
and the world 
we don’t care 
and that right 
there is family
