Debate

Hope came in 
the form of
embarrassing the former 
and highlighting the future 
old tired and 
angry we saw
how heavy a
life of lies 
is and that 
broken promises can 
dress a man 
like a mirage 
but when the 
rains of tomorrow 
pelt the dessert 
even it despite 
its efforts to 
deflect will absorb 
and ultimately deflate 
becoming just another 
piece of land 
where things grow
