Laces (for Bean)

We are shoelaces 
two ends of 
the same middle 
sometimes tied nicely 
together in bow
like rabbit ears
or loop hoop
while others we’re
left to dangle 
be stepped upon 
dirtied and frayed 
if we’re replaced 
we’re replaced as
one for two 
we’ll only be 
at the end
