We all do 
most of us
who have turned 
to other things 
to buffer pain 
or escape from 
eventually arrive at 
the same intersection
oh you’ll recognize 
any of us 
by our crutches 
and the limp
in our gait
from the many
miles we’ve walked 
to get there
