Chair

I’ve always been 
different but it
had a mystery 
or craziness or 
defiant edge to 
it that somehow 
deflected the consternation 
that absorbed consequences 
but now this 
this is obvious 
front and center 
and whatever decoy
I had set
to lake anchor 
no longer attracts 
I can’t camouflage 
wheels when people 
look for feet
