Dryer

Another morning silent 
broken by machines 
past the kitchen 
the dryer spins 
tapping out code
of toppling buttons 
clackity clack click
cleaning and tumbling 
oh it’s done 
time to fold
holding close warmth 
like the hugs
that I remember 
from long ago
