Heart

I was born 
with a broken 
heart it hiccups 
there’s some name 
but unlike heartbreak 
this unusual heartbeat 
gives me pause 
and reminds me 
of how temporary 
we all are 
we don’t think 
we don’t realize 
just how much 
good goes on
behind the scenes 
of our very
simple little life
