Just where have all 
of the romantics gone 
have they been swallowed 
by this new need
for now right now 
when did things speed
up blurring everything into 
just one more one 
more and one more 
where did the slowness 
go the lazy summer 
afternoons just watching the 
dew drip down the 
glass as silent winds
shushed through oak trees 
and laughter wafted from 
the mouths of children 
playing on the rise
of the hill when 
did biting sarcasm replace 
genuine affection and kindness 
we do indeed seem 
to be at the 
end of days at
least for the romantics
