Stoplight

In my town 
when I was 
young we had 
this one intersection 
a four-way stop
manners were then
a complete stop 
looking both ways 
giving a nod
and a smile 
and sometimes even 
an after you 
then they installed 
a stop light 
telling one when 
to stop and 
when to go 
and just like 
most of life 
and of love 
the exact moment 
one is told 
that they can’t 
they always do 
we had more
accidents and fatalities 
people speeding through 
manners now gone
life with it
